Welcome
Uthink.org contains resources from across the web offering support for the Biblical worldview. This site is regularly under construction. Some thoughts about science and the possibility of God's existence.
- If we accept the argument that the Standard Big Bang model is the best explanation of observations regarding space and the origins of the universe, the idea that time, space, and the universe began at the big bang nearly demands the existence of a transcendent cause, designer, or creator. This fact has caused quite a stir in the astronomy/physicist community over the years. It is one of the motivating factors behind theories such as multiverses, oscilating-universes, and other theories that resolve the problem of a "beginning" to the universe.
- Many finely tuned "constants" exist, that were they slightly different, would have prevented the appearance of our universe. These are so specific, that many astronomers have admitted that naturalistic explanations are "less" likely than opening the door to some mind or cause behind this find tuning. While some have opted for a new-age sort of belief in some intelligence or cause behind the universe, others see this evidence for the God of the Bible. Whatever route is taken, this clearly documented observation erects a major hurdle for the idea that the universe came about undesigned and uncaused.
- An additional set of constants exist that, if slightly off would prevent the appearance of life on our planet.
- The big bang model, contrary to the this-is-proven-fact-that-nobody-intelligent-doubts mantra of its fans, is a theory that is beginning to fall on hard times in the minds of some of its former champions. Former Big bang leaders like, Fred Hoyle are beginning to come up with alternative theories because of the inability of the standard big bang model to answer various anomalies that scientists are pointing out.
- Believing and non-believing astronomers have suggested alternative models to the big bang, as ways to explain the data observed in space. Any model that leaves the door open for a creator, will automatically be rejected by the scientific community because it is committed, on philosophical grounds, to explaining explaining everything without reference to a creator.
- The appearance of the basic building blocks of life, from non living matter, in the early stages of earths formation requires statistical chances so high as to make some other explanation more logical.
- The appearance of information in the genetic code as well as information replication and checking mechanisms require, like other forms of information in our universe, an originating mind - unless of course on is committed to a universe without a creator, causing them to see this as an exception to what we normally observe.
- The existence of certain systems in nature defy the normal mutate-natural-selection mechanism of evolution. Evolutionists, committed to their theory no matter the evidence, suggest these systems resulted from the combination of other simpler features that were previously evolved. Not all scientists buy the explanation.
- A growing cadre of scientists and medical professionals are going on record to state that the do not believe Darwinian evolution can account for the complexity in nature. These scientists are in many cases not Christians, or creation scientists. They refuse to make any statements about the religious implications of their problem with the Darwinian model. They are "just saying" they don't want to tow the party line any more. The evidence doesn't add up for them.
- Much like one party choice in former communist countries, scientists must bow to the altar of big-bang cosmology and Darwinian evolution and pretend that nobody doubts these theories. Individuals who do not tow the party line run the risk of ruining their careers. Behind closed doors some scientists are willing to express doubts while popular voices like National Geographic, Discovery, Nature, the Smithsonian indoctrinate the public by repeating the dogmas; "No doubts allowed. No doubts allowed. Questioning is evidence of ignorance."
